Wooden pallets can be used to do a lot of different things. You can use the wood in various do it yourself projects and you can even use whole wooden pallets to add to the aesthetic of a project. In this article we will be talking about a specific project that you can undertake if you are looking to start something new. The project is making shelves and cabinets out of wooden pallets that you may have lying about or might have bought for a project specifically. The only tools for pallet wall storage you need is a saw, some glue, and a hammer.
The first thing you will need to do is to find a good pallet or two that is clean and is sturdy, and then get to sanding them. Once any blemishes on the boards have been removed and the pallets have been smoothed out then you can move on the actual forward facing shelves. Do note, if the wooden pallet breaks or cracks at any point during the sanding, use some wood glue and stick it back as it will not make too much of a difference.
The next thing you need to do is prepare the wooden French cleats to hang the shelf. You can prepare them very easily from any extra wood that you have lying around, you could even use the extra pallet wood. Sand the back of the pallet and make 8 inch long French Pallets that can be glued to the back of the wooden pallet.
Finally you will go on and mount the shelves on the pallet board. Use the front board of the pallet and use individual planks as the shelf that you fix in front of the back panel. Use shelf brackets to fix them into place.
